Can I end the auction early if the buyer agrees to the BIN price that I suggest?

I'm not sure as the item already has one bid.

Yes, you can.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 13/04/2012 21:01

Great - I think I'll give him a price.

How do I go about it?

Copy your item number, then go to 'end my listing' page ( this is not easy to find, just search for it). You have to provide a reason and can't do it in the last 12 hours of the auction.

Ok. Thanks for that.

I've replied to his messgae offering a BIN price but haven't heard back.

I'll check out where the links that I need are just in case he gets back to me.

I'm a little confused how he will pay the BIN price that we will potentially agree upon.

I did not list the item with a BIN price and the item is for collection only (buyer to pay cash on collection).

How can I do the process through ebay with the £25 BIN price? ATM bids are up to £7.50.

Every time someone has asked me for BIN price, my item has gone for a lot of money. Your buyer probably realises this and is trying to grab himself a bargain.

oohlordylordy · 14/04/2012 08:08

Well, I've always just gone on trust and I've never had a problem. Though, I suppose you could ask for a paypal payment before the item is collected if you wanted to be sure (or even before you pull the auction)

How long does the auction have to run? I do agree with Nancerama, people who are requesting BINs often know the true value of an item. Also, most bidding now takes place in the last few minutes, as lots of people use auction sniper and similar tools to place bids.

fergoose · 14/04/2012 08:11

please never take paypal for a collection item, you should only take cash.

Buy It Now is just the same as a normal auction for collection - buyer or you just mark item as paid after they have given cash for the item when they collect.

oohlordylordy · 14/04/2012 08:45

Why no paypal for a collection item?

I do it (both as a buyer and a seller) all the time. Is there something I'm missing?

fergoose · 14/04/2012 09:03

because a buyer can claim not to receive the item and get a refund from paypal. Should only ever do cash for collection items.

oohlordylordy · 14/04/2012 09:17

Oh.... I'd never thought of that. I've always relied on trust and never had a problem (thankgoodness!) but I can see your point.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 14/04/2012 13:20

He's not got back to me regarding the BIN price. It's due to end tomorrow evening so I'll have to wait and see now I suppose.

It's for a pushchair which I've listed as collection only.

Did it sell?

HSMM · 15/04/2012 20:59

I always just tell people to put their BIN amount in as a bid and see if they win.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 16/04/2012 19:20

Yes, it went for £23.50 in the end which I'm pleased with.
