I'm having a problem with people leaving feedback and people paying

I sold 4 eye creams, a pair of lelli kellys and two items of children's clothing. I sent out the eye creams and shoes last Wednesday and have heard nothing back. I then sent an sent an email to the 5 buyers asking if the had received their items and one contacted me saying they had and left feedback but the other 4 that I have sent items to, I have heard nothing back. The problem is in the past I have only used ebay to buy a few items and Paypal have said that they are freezing my funds until either 21 days has past from the transaction or the buyer leaves feedback, i.e. closes the case. This is because there has been a lot of money going through my account, which, for someone that doesn't use it all that much seemed a bit weird for them. I'm getting really annoyed with these people. Can you force people to leave feedback or is it in bad taste to send out an email telling people to leave feedback.

The people that bought the two items of clothing haven't even contacted me to say when they will pay. I've sent an invoice, but have heard nothing. One was bought on 10. 04 and the other 11.04. What should I do? How long do I leave it before getting shitty. If I win something and can't pay for it straight away I send the seller an email say "will pay for ...date as awaiting CB" and always get a positive response. But I would never bid on something that is ending 4 days away from when I have the money to pay for it. How long is reasonable to wait or should I send an email to these people.

Is all of this common for ebay.

ok for the non payers open unpaid item cases on day 4 - if they don't pay you can close 4 days later and get your fees back then relist

The feedback thing well many people never leave it - it is purely voluntary and you should never ask or demand it as you make get shirty feedback back. I would leave them theirs and then just wait. So you will just have to be patient on that one to be honest. also you are asking people if they had received their items, anything of any value I would suggest recorded delivery as you are leaving yourself open to chargebacks.

the items had to be signed for. do you know how I can check to say they were delivered.

with royal mail - you just go to royal mail track and trace and enter the number

It's on royal mail website, there is a big long barcode type number you enter to see delivery info.

ime, it's a bit impatient to always expect prompt payment. You can open a case if they haven't paid after 96 hours, anyway. Ebay has changed its model so that it wants sellers to be quite professional; sadly, professionals expect problem buyers, have to budget & plan for them. I think it sucks, too.

must admit as a buyer I rarely leave feedback, to do it properly & fairly takes 5 tedious minutes & I can't be asked each & every time. Personally I would msg back to confirm item was received, though, but it is still school holidays & some people are away still or very busy.

sorry, meant "imho" not ime. Need more tea :).

Just to add about the releasing funds. I'm a new seller on eBay and paypal holds my funds for 21 days. I have just had my first payment released. I had feedback left approx 15 days ago.

sarahtigh · 13/04/2012 16:22

all new selllers will have funds kept for 21 days it is just to stop people opening accounts selling "stuff" pocketing money no-one receives "stuff" as it never existed paypal can not get money to refund as withdrawn, paypal has to refund out of their pocket ... its a business it hates losses so it holds onto money for new sellers until it has deemed stuff really has been sold and received

do not ask for feedback EVER it is voluntary if you asked me it would annoy me and I would probably not leave it or just go "OK" which is not what you want

people often snipe or are buying several things and pay in 1 go every few days while i would say 75-80% pay within 48 hours you need to leave 4 days personally i send invoice reminder after 3 days and open case after 6-7 days I allow longer if a bank holiday

Thank you Sarah and ragged for your advice. It's been the easter holidays so I'll leave it a bit longer.
