Link to other thread.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/ebay/1446033-A-buyer-wants-me-to-post-to-an-address-not-registered-to-his-account

Hope link works, never done one before.

This is what he has said.

By calling me a bully on a public forum you have libelled me. I have no issue with the rest of your feedback.
UK law is very clear on this issue. If the feedback response isn't amended within the timescale I have offered you, then further action will be taken. When deciding how to respond to this Eileen please be sure that this will be an issue for the courts to deal with, not eBay. You have commited a crime and I am giving you a chance to put it right. Please accept my offer.

What do I do?

ignore him - it is only your opinion. What an utter bully he is - how the hell did he find the thread anyway?

fergoose · 09/04/2012 21:31

Let him take you to court and waste his money - is absolutely ridiculous. feedback is your opinion, nothing more.

OddBoots · 09/04/2012 21:33

Libel requires an individual to be personally identifiable, calling an un-named (or otherwise identified) person a bully on every forum in the land still won't be libel.

fergoose · 09/04/2012 21:35

Honestly please do not worry - just ignore him. He has just proved you were right hasn't he - I think calling him a bully was more than generous!

youngermother1 · 09/04/2012 21:35

well its only libellous under certain conditions here - might just be easier to change feedback to remove the reference to bully

Sparklyblue · 09/04/2012 21:37

He didn't find the thread, I called him a bully in the feedback I left.
Shall I just ignore him then Confused

I would forward all emails on to ebay and ignore. Sounds like you are right and he sold the tickets. He sounds like he is panicing and trying to bully you. If he was innocent he wouldn't be "giving you a chance to put it right" and pleading with you to accept the "offer".

Also may be worth posting this in legal. I may be wrong but I always thought libel was a civil matter not a "crime".

fergoose · 09/04/2012 21:39

yes do ignore it - a solicitor would laugh at him.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 09/04/2012 21:39

I would amend your feedback just for the sake of minimalising hassle. I doubt that he'd go to court, too expensive.

fergoose · 09/04/2012 21:39

don't even reply to him - please don't worry.

Sparklyblue · 09/04/2012 21:40

I think he means ebays feedback forum when he states public forum.

OP posts:
fergoose · 09/04/2012 21:41

oh right ok - either way, feedback doesn't identify the person and is your opinion - he does not have a leg to stand on.

tethersend · 09/04/2012 21:45

Amend the feedback to call him a cunt Grin

fergoose · 09/04/2012 21:51

also your buyer has pulled this stunt before hasn't he - look at the feedback he has left for other sellers - they also refused to send to unregistered address.

IllegitimateGruffaloChild · 09/04/2012 21:51

I'm with tethersend. Threaten him with court for harassment.

Dickhead.

fergoose · 09/04/2012 21:53

I agree with tethers - except sadly eBay won't accept language :(

tethersend · 09/04/2012 21:55

Clearly this buyer is
Unreasonable and is
Not providing his real details;
Truly, I think he may be scamming.

Wink
fergoose · 09/04/2012 21:58

he is selling tickets he doesn't own, and getting sellers to post them to alternative address but not doing it correctly.

IllegitimateGruffaloChild · 09/04/2012 21:59

Cunning buyer didn't
Understand me
Not wanting to post
To unknown address.

Sparklyblue · 09/04/2012 22:15

Thank you so much every body. Your advice has been brilliant fergoose, I'm just going to look at his feedback now.
tethersend, you had me in stitches Grin
IllegitimateGruffaloChild, very clever Wink

I was very worried, but you have all, really cheered me up.
Thank you

He's just full of it. Just ignore him.

Sparklyblue · 09/04/2012 22:32

Yes I will ignore him, that will piss him off more Grin

I've looked at his feedback Shock he definitely has form, dodgy bastard.

OP posts:
ElephantsAreMadeOfElements · 09/04/2012 22:42

He doesn't know what he's talking about as libel is a civil rather than a criminal matter so his "you have committed a crime" is just drivel. And bringing a libel action is mindbuggeringly expensive. And you almost certainly didn't libel him anyway.

Ignore, ignore, ignore.
