Think I've bought a counterfeit bag but seller adamant it's genuine. WTD?

I bought a Cath Kidston bag on Ebay but when I received it I felt it was a counterfeit as soon as I touched it. The oilcloth feels completely different to that of my other CK bags. They are smooth, this is textured. Also the leather on top of the handles is thinner than on my other bags where it is quite padded. I've emailed the seller but she says it's genuine and won't let me return it. What should I do next?

Ebay doesn't allow the sale of conterfeit goods so if you can prove it's counterfeit then you can report the seller. CK might be able to help you prove it's fake.

I looked on their website and it says to email them if you have a query about counterfeits, so I've done that and will have to wait (on tenterhooks) to see what they say.

just open a not as described with eBay if the seller is unco-operative - they will tell you to return it tracked and then you can get a refund.

but if I say it's fake and she says it's real how will ebay know who is right?

file with eBay not as described, not Paypal and they will just tell you to return for a refund.

Apparently so yak. That's interesting Betty. I'm going to wait to see if I get a response from the CK website before I register a complaint on Ebay. Maybe it is real. Even if it is, I've gone off it lol.

Stupid question, but does it have tags/labels inside? Mine does but it does look like quite a simple label IYSWIM. Mine is also ever so slightly textured and mine is def. Real as I got it from John Lewis!

Yes, yakbutter! I have a Kidston bag and it cost about £40. It is genuine, from the CK shop.
When out and about in London, I say fakes for sale for £30! Madness.

It has labels on the inside but not the usual one on the outside. I've sent a picture to CK, hopefully they will be able to enlighten me.

you can open an eBay case now - you have to wait a week to escalate it so you may as well get it opened asap

There are a lot of ck fakes about, usually in prints that ck don't do though. Although my be something as simple as different colour background. The quality of the print isn't usually as good either.

Are you near a ck shop or stockist? Could you take it in to compare?

Well I sent pictures to CK's brand protection team and they have confirmed that it's genuine. Thanks everyone.

The older ck bags don't have the labels on the front.
