I won an auction for an item for DD several weeks ago ? seller has 100% feed back & I paid immediately.

Over 2 weeks later & still no sign of item, so I sent a polite note asking if it had been sent yet (seller quotes 2nd class standard mail, says 5-7 days on their listing) - explaining this is something DD REALLY wants, so I'm getting nagged & it does seem a long time -

Seller replies a few days later, apologising, saying her Mum had taken ill & she's been running backwards & forwards to the hospital & she completely forgot & would send the item next day delivery on the following Monday - meaning we'd get it Tuesday last week.

I've no idea if her story is genuine or not, but given the 100% FB, take her at her word & reply with sympathy for her situation & telling her it would be appreciated, but not to put herself out of pocket with the postage - which was quite actually high, but probably not high enough for NDD - & that so long as we got it before Easter, then that would be okay, but no later as we will be away on holiday & DD wants the item for then & also I'd worry about it sitting around in the sorting office -

normal first class, or even 2nd would have done that if posted on the day she said - but I got a "despatched" notification Wed afternoon this week - saying sent standard 2nd class Hmm

When I contacted her to confirm she had sent it this way/on that afternoon, she gave me more sob story about her Mum going back into hospital leaving parcel on side & forgetting etc etc - now thats all well & good, & if her story is genuine, then I feel for her & I'm happy to be understanding & except late delivery etc BUT, surely posting even later still on the Wed, she should have swallowed the extra postage to make sure it got here by yesterday (Thur) - the item price along with the quite high postage wouldn't have left her out of pocket at all

I am pretty p'd off, DD is upset & our post could be a problem as we are away for the next week & a half - but due to her story, I'm torn between leaving bad feed back, or having some sympathy Confused

What do you think ??

TIA
:)

Should have added - checking her FB more thoroughly - its all buying, so she doesn't have a proven selling record -

i reckon the ill mother is a load of bollocks.
I have had that sort of sob story as well from sellers and late delivery.

not sure what to do about feedback..I reckon hardly anyone leaves bad feedback these days

she'll leave you bad feedback i guess if you do...hence peoples reluctance

but it also means there's lots of false 100%ers around

I am trying to decide whether to leave bad feedback atm as well for a buyer who has mucked me about .

I have twice forgotton to post stuff recently Blush both times once I realised i sent them 1st class recorded so they got them the next day - so I'd be suspicious.

catsareevil · 06/04/2012 13:13

She cant leave you bad feedback. Her story sounds like rubbish.

rockinhippy · 06/04/2012 14:58

Thanks everyone, that was pretty much my thoughts on her story too - but then thought maybe I was just been a bit mean - I was happy enough to give her the benefit of the doubt, but like you random I too would have posted NDD if if were me & I had forgotten - especially twice

my gut instinct is, that as similar items went for bigger money the same day, she might have been hoping I'd tell her to stick it & she could resell - I've now got a tracking number, so she has posted it, but if they don't turn up tomorrow - which is unlikely she will be loosing her 100% positive feed back, even if they turn up as described etc

Thanks again for your opinions :)

I have had a similar problem over the last two weeks but I was the seller.

Ds was admitted to hospital the day that I had 12 items ending. He was let out the next day but needed me to do lots of fetching and carrying for him. I have not had a minute to myself for 10 days. I spent hours packing up and posting items last weekend to get them out as soon as I possibly could.

One item was to be sent with a courier. I emailed the buyer twice explaining my situation and they claimed to have not received any communication from me and were quite unpleasant which really made my hard week that little bit harder.

The sale has now been cancelled at the buyer's request and I am waiting for a negative fb for it but compared to the couple of weeks I've had, I really don't mind. I appreciate that they have been inconvenienced but I felt, under the circumstances, that I had tried to resolve the problems.

rockinhippy · 08/04/2012 01:55

Sorry to hear that Mogs :(

That does sound unfair as by what you say you've been upfront & kept in touch with your buyers, which is different to how my seller has been, I've had to chase & she then promised NDD - posted later than she said & then didn't send NDD, which she should have done at that stage, as I'd told her we were going to be away after Easter.

I'm pleased to say though, that it turned up this morning & very happy with it as such, just not the wait & poor communication, though I think thats more down to a friend who works in our sorting office organising a favour for us - I gave him the tracking number, so he could look out for it & keep it safe whilst we are away, but he's somehow managed to speed up delivery & its come first class Grin

Leave positive but beg on the stars maybe then?

Get you with friends in high places pulling some Saving Private Ryan shit on your parcel [bugrin]

Not acceptable. Neg frredback from me - slelers cant leave neg for you anyway so your record is safe. Put a note adding "Waited X days for despatch, poor Comms. Would not recommend seller".

HoneyBunnyDragon · 09/04/2012 16:14

She is BU.

I bought a footmuff last year and got a frantic email from the seller to say she was in hospital with her daughter and that she would get er dad to wrap the item and post it once her had come down to help out and send it first class recorded.

I never had to chase her once, even though I emailed her specifically to state that ther was no rush as the item wasn't needed any time soon.

I think you are well within your rights to let your feedback reflect how she has dealt with you.

so sorry for my typos! Blush
