A buyer has just asked me if I would and I said yes, using international signed for, believing that that would be trackable as ebay ask for.

Am I wrong?

Depends where she lives, they dont have a postal system in Dubai as such but they do have PO boxes (which of course are unmanned and therefore unsigned for). All you can say to the buyer is that you will send it by air mail and you can prove that it is 'posted' by getting a postal receipt from the post office but that it is not possible to offer a guaranteed service (unless she wants to pay for a much more expensive courier). She would need to take the liability for the item if it goes missing.

She lives in Abu Dhabi. In order for her to bid it seems I would have to open the auction to anywhere in the world and I'm not prepared to do that. I think I'll just message her to that effect.

Thanks for your response. It's clarified things for me.

the buyer can't take liability - it is your responsibility as a seller to get the item to the buyer. If it gets lost eBay will give the buyer back their money and you will have to claim for a lost item with royal mail.

I've written to her saying I'm not going to open the auction worldwide as I can ask buyers to check out postage with me but I can't make them and this could leave me in a tricky situation and I apologised. I think this is sensible. I hope she doesnt mind.
