Quick question about buyer not paying postage....

I need a contingency plan, just in case of trouble!

Buyer has paid for item , after 5 days, but has chosen the collection in person option and therefore no postage. But their address is 200+ miles away. Plus I specified cash on collection if picking up, to avoid chargebacks etc.

Ok, maybe they are coming down this way, maybe they've moved and not changed their reg details on ebay. But I've got a sneaking feeling they are trying to get away with paying for the item only, yet want it posted.

What's my best plan? Have already emailed them asking for clarification.

refund them and ask them to either pay the correct amount or cash on collection.

I did think that - but as you have to offer paypal as a payment option, won't that count badly if they kick up a fuss with ebay? Plus, I need to wait and see how they reply to my email... but I don't expect it to be particularly soon, as it took them 5 days to pay anyway.

no - cash on collection only otherwise you are leaving yourself open to chargebacks.

and if you are posting the item you need the correct payment so refund it and ask them to pay the full amount.

Hmm, maybe i should do that before I wait for their reply then....

May be worth contacting them. I gave done this when I've paid on my phone through the app - if they buyer hsdnt contacted me I would never have known.

Now I only pay on the pc, to be on the safe side.

You cant see the amount you're paying?

Yes it should the amount and postage, I clicked pay it linked to PayPal and I confirmed. I was away so thought nothing off it.

Then when I got contacted by the seller I checked my paypal receipt and online banking and had only paid for the item itself Confused - I'm not the only one this has happened to thankfully.

As a seller too I am used to the odd person trying it on, a genuine buyer will simply pay up and be happy you've pointed out the error Smile

I've had this happen to me a couple of times too, wonder if those people paid using their mobile?

That happened to me too, Honey. Didn't realise until the seller messaged me to ask if I wanted them posted.
