Collecting items - how thoroughly do you inspect them before handing over your cash?

I won an item that was described as excellent condition and barely used. Picked it up this morning and it looked a little less than excellent condition but I thought it'd still be ok. I handed over my cash and went on my way. On closer inspection, at home, it is in really poor condition and not really something I would have bid on if I'd have known.

I read a similar story hear yesterday from the other perspective and just wondered how thoroughly people inspect the items when they collect. I think I'd feel really awkward refusing to pay for an item, however, I am now down £26 with an item that i wouldn't relist as the condition is so poor.

I always inspect Very thoroughly.
TBH I think it's your fault if you don't check it, condition is so subjective.

I've sold quite a few things that have been collected but I don't think anyone has ever inspected before taking it.

Anyway, I've since found a major fault with it, have returned it and hopefully the item is well on its way to the tip!

I'll definitely check more carefully next time Smile
