AIBU to have messaged back that I'm disappointed they are not in the post already? It's two pairs of used Clarks shoes which I need pretty desperately as DD has outgrown the previous ones.

YANBU

I think you really ought to use the feedback tool to convey this to future buyers.

sarahtigh · 21/03/2012 14:56

check in her listing to see what she says her dispatch time is, if she says 4-5 days then you should in theory have noticed that, but if it says 2-3 days then YANBU

then perhaps if everything else is ok give 1 or 2 stars for dispatch time and polite comment like " lovely items and as described but a disappointing delay in arrival"

or message back and say as you are so late in posting you should consider posting 1st vcclass at sellers expense,

birdofthenorth · 21/03/2012 15:07

Ok, so I checked and she did say 4-5 days, which I should look out for in future. Surely that means you should expect to receive them in 5 days though? If she posted them on Friday that's at least 8 days til I receive them.

PS this is why I keep chickening out of selling stuff on Ebay myself, I think the pressure of posting things on time would be too much for me!

Then surely your answer is "no, I need them asap - sorry!"

sarahtigh · 21/03/2012 15:24

no dispatch time is the maximum time the seller says there will be between receiving payment and posting delivery time as estimated by ebay is dispatch time plus average time for postage ie in this case 4-5 tdays plus 5 working days for 2nd class total 10days

so 4 days ago is saturday so 4-5 working days is actually thursday anyway

she is only 1 day out on what she says so i think you have to go with flow on this one, in reality 85% of second class post arrives in 3 days so if she posts on friday you will probably have them by wednesday, they err on the safe side so not huge numbers of peope complaining if it takes 4 days

sarahtigh · 21/03/2012 15:27

i say 2 days and list my items accordingly i post tuesdays and fridays so my items finishing on sunday/monday get posted turesday if you post promptly anything finishing on tuesday-thursday will be posted friday, I do not have any items finishing on fri/saturdays

VivaLeBeaver · 21/03/2012 15:27

4-5 days could actually be Friday as Sat and Sun aren't counted as working days. If you say you bought them 4 days ago - I'm assuing Sat or Sunday?

fergoose · 21/03/2012 15:43

if she says 4-5 days then Friday is 4-5 working days isn't it? A seller does have 7 days to post items out don't they under paypal rules

birdofthenorth · 21/03/2012 16:32

Ah, ok. Yes, bought them on Sat.

She's now said she will post tomorrow anyway following on from my "I'm a bit disappointed" message so all is well.

I guess I have just had good luck with prompt postage so far, pretty much everything I've bought seems to arrive within 3 days!

she probably says 4-5 days as may be she lives a long way from PO and only posts once or twice a week
