I sold a pram system on a collection in person basis. The buyer has contacted me tonight and asked me to bag everything up in black bags and he'll arrange a courier. Where does this leave me if anything gets damaged in transit as black bags don't offer much protection, could he claim a refund from me?

Thanks

no protection at all - cash on delivery or arrange your own courier with tracking number which you will need if they claim not received.

Also black bags would not be adequate for courier I think?

Hmm This is precisely what I wanted to avoid which is why I stated cash on collection, I didn't want to have to worry about boxing things up and arranging couriers

How would you deal with this?

either get them to pay for a courier and book it yourself, or tell them cash on collection only and no courier - it's your choice.

  • pay you for the courier and packaging I meant

I would ask them to provide cash on collection or cancel the transaction. If they won't do either then open an unpaid item case against them.

This is why I don't like selling things on ebay - people pay no attention to anything you say about no couriers, local collection and cash in person.

This happened to me. Really F*cking irritating. She sent courier. It worked out fine, but in future I'd say cash on collection or cancel the sale.

Oh I had this problem.

I sold DS's quad on eBay. I put cash on collection for obvious reasons.

Winning bidder told me he would arrange a courier. I was mad and told him he was only getting bin bags around it.

So the courier turned up but had no delivery address for the item. Neither did I Confused.

I emailed him and he said he would give his address to DHL so I waited in again for the courier. Still no address.

I messaged him again and told him that I was relisting the item. I refunded him via paypal (it never occured to me at the time to look at paypal for his address).

2 days later another courier arrived. I just sent him on his way, blocked the bidder and relisted the item.

what a twonk he was.

When I resold it it went for more than it did the first time. Grin

I told the buyer as I was responsible for making sure the pram got to him safely I would prefer to organise the courier. He then said he would see if he could collect it himself. Not heard from him since!
