The longest time you have had something for sale?

I'm just wondering what item took the longest to sell?
Do you always re-list on the same terms?

I've got a few things on sale, really enjoying hunting through cupboards and selling stuff and being ruthless with my clutter, in particular old clothes, and being firm with myself. A few things I am having to re-list and am sometimes surprised nobody is taking them, or is even watching.

Interested to see what item might take the record as hardest/longest to sell!

I listed a Monsoon dress over a year ago, have relisted it religiously every week. It finally sold last week for about three quid. It has probably cost me £20 in listing fees but it became a matter of PRINCIPLE dammit! It was a lovely dress in excellent condition too.

if you relist and have space sometimes good to leave a couple of weeks before relisting also if really want to sell reduce price by 10% each time I only list 99p items twice then charity shop

if clothes it could just be wrong season no-one will buy winter coat now etc

I tend to start items on a 10-day listing (Thurs -> Sun night) and then if they don't sell, relist on the Sun night on a 7-day basis. Generally, I tend to stick to a 3-time rule, if it doesn't sell then I either take it off and relist a few weeks later or, if it really is a random item that I don't think will sell, I charity shop it.

Most things tend to go either first or second time of listing luckily, but I am pretty ruthless these days about what I list - a lot has gone to the charity shop, that a few years ago I might have tried on eBay, but I don't have time to do that these days.

There are a few things I never really list anymore - books (unless I can list as a job lot), dvds/cds (send to Music Magpie instead - guarenteed money and a lot less hassle).

sometimes it won't sell, if an unusual item, either because nobody happens to want one at the moment, or because another is already on sale, or has just been sold. I do a search beforehand to see what's a typical selling price.

if either of these applies, I wait a few weeks before readvertising.
