Have never bought or sold on it, but have lots of baby things I'd like to sell. Can anyone guide me through getting started or any other top tips?

The best time to sell is on a Sunday night between seven and eleven in the evening ten day auction so you start it in a Thursday evening.

Put as much detail in the description as possible to avoid complaints. I would always send by recorded post unless the buyer requests otherwise.

Don't write your title in capitals but do each word beginning with a capital and put as much info in in as possible eg.

Baby Girls Pink Gro Bag Sleeping Bag 2.5tog Excellent Condition

Something like that Smile

Hope that helps a bit

Mostly what Spotty said!

However if you decide it's too much faff there is always Gumtree or adverts posted in your local Tesco.. or possibly an NCT nearly-new sale?

Ebay is far more popular though so you will get a better response that way IMO...

Have a look and see if anyone is selling similar items to yours - compare their listings and watch them to see what price they sell for. Try and copy the positive points from each and apply it to your listing.

Photos are key - there is a lot of children's clothing on there, so try and make yours stand out.

I mainly bought from eBay and not sold - I'm just starting to sell now and I agree, it is v v scary!

Good luck

Have a good read on the forums
there are a few scare stories but many REALLY helpful people
community.ebay.co.uk/forum/Seller-Central/7
and remember that the people with zero feedback are using posting IDs but are genuinely very very knowledgeable and friendly (just not on a Friday night when we have had a glass of wine!)

if a good make like gap or boden make sure it is in title,
if it has tiny stain on back of right leg say so
sell stuff from george , primark tesco matalan etc in bundles , weigh stuff
do reasonable postage ie cost plus 20-30p max
if people buy more than 1 item say you are happy to combine postage
ie someone wants jeans and likes a t shirt but does no want to pay 99p and then £2 postage as can get new one for £3 any how; but if you combine postage with jeans it is probbably only 30p more to post you only use 1 mailing bag you both win
photos of mostly white or pale clothes on dark sheet in daylight by window so colours look right, for darker stuff jeans use white sheet
