Help please - problems with addresses - what should I do?

Hi, I have jsut sold two phones on ebay for reasonable amounts of money but I have concerns about my buyers! Both have paid by paypal, but one has a confirmed address on paypal that is spelt incorrectly if you google it and the other isn't confirmed on paypal and I can't find the house number when I google it.

I don't often sell on ebay and I am paranoid about losing my money so should I post to these addresses (special delivery) and if not, what can I do given that I have already been paid?

Thanks for any advice!!!!

I would drop them a message asking them to confirm the exact address details. If you are sending by SP the PO will check the addresses on their system first anyway so any discrepencies will come up at that point

Ok, I have emailed for confirmation from them. Do you think the post office will raise objections at the point of sending? The post code appears on the royal mail address finder....

Just make sure you send items special delivery or courier to protect yourself from chargebacks.

I will definitely send special delivery!
I don't really understand how chargeback works, but I have transferred the money out of my paypal account so presumably they can't get it back?

yes they can - it would just put your paypal account into debt and paypal would chase you for the money. Transferring it out makes no difference.

Oh, so I just send special delivery, keep proof of postage, keep a copy of proof fo delivery and hope and pray? Do you know how long the buyer has to do a chargeback? So I know when to uncross my fingers!

45 days to do a chargeback

with the tracking info you can actually add it to the eBay/paypal transaction too so it is already held by them.

occasionalposter · 13/02/2012 11:52

That sounds good - I have sent off a couple of things today and I could add the tracking info to them (if I knew how). I will look into it!

Thanks for all your advice by the way!

this is how you add the tracking info

pages.ebay.co.uk/help/pay/upload-tracking.html

:)

Thanks fergoose, you have been really helpful! I have added the tracking numbers.

I have checked the priory history of my buyer and he has spent over £2000 in the last month all on mobile phones, but he has no negative feedback (although he hasn't left any feedback for the people he bought from)!!

I think I am just going to have to post to the paypal address. I have checked paypal advice and ebay and since I have the money and paypal say that the address is confirmed and I have seller protection, I don't think I have any option.

the buyer wouldn't have any neg feedback though as sellers can't leave it

anyway if you send with adequate insurance with online proof of delivery then you are covered.

Will do and thanks again!
