Paypal question - funds on hold?

Not actually Ebay-related but this seems like the place where the question is most likely to be answered!

I bought something online (not from Ebay) and used a gift voucher that didn't work, so the seller has refunded me the amount that wasn't taken off the bill in the first place. They refunded it yesterday, but the refund is showing as 'on hold' which I understand can happen if Paypal is waiting for the funds from the sellers bank account.

But, my whole account is now on hold. My balance is showing as £0 when I should have over £30, yet no payments have gone out. The refund was for £10, but the funds on hold are showing as "-£41" Confused

Whats that about?

i have this same problem if you are new to paypal under 90 days or have had problems, they put all payments on hold and release them after 21 days.

i am finding it a complete nightmare at the moment

i think they keep it in their account for as long as possible so they can make money off it

hope this helps

I thought they just held onto payments received as a seller - but Anarchyaunt is a buyer here so I don't know if that applies. I have had to wait for a refund to clear in the past when the payment was funded by bank transfer, so I had to wait for my payment to clear before it was refunded, but I don't think that would be the case here.

I am sorry Anarchy I have no idea what Paypal have done - it does sound odd. I would phone them if I were you.
