would you buy some kitchen floor tiles from ebay? I had some water damage and the insurance company bought too many floor tiles - I now have 3 unopened boxes of lovely tiles but not sure if they would sell on ebay? Any advice??

Yes I would if they were local to me and I could pick up

Just make sure you only accept cash - do not take paypal for a collection item.

I agree with fergoose - I would sell as pick up only and only accept cash for them.

You could also try selling them in the local newspaper, facebook and local internet selling sites.

Some people have had success with Gumtree I've heard too, but I've never used it so can't speak from personal experience.

Fine if you live in a crowded central type urban area. No point if you're out in the country. Might not even Freecycle.

I am in a very rural area but sites like this thrive around here. The advantage is that most people in rural areas have cars/vans so can transport.

I always wonder about this and maybe someone can advise. How do you find pick up onlys which are local to you on ebay? Do you trawl through them all hunting them down or should sellers put the area in their title? Is there a secret to it?

when you do a search for an item you can change it to nearest first in the sort by drop down box. Then I do control F then in the box type in 'free' then hit enter.

That gives you all the free postage ones which hopefully will be collection too.

You can also just type in collection on the search and click search item and description box.

or you can put in 'pick up' also in your search.

I have successfully sold things through my local NetMums site. You could do that.
Is there no chamce of returning them to the place they were bought from?

carrotsandcelery · 17/01/2012 14:13

Thanks once again Fergoose.

:)

Unfortunately, I can't return them as they were bought by the flooring company that were hired by my insurance firm so i didn't buy them direct - hence no receipt. The flooring company don't want them and suggest I keep them should anything go wrong but in all honesty they are way too big (and heavy) plus the extra cash would come in handy. Have put them on ebay, local pick up and cash only so will see what happens. Thanks everyone for your advice :)
