What do I do when the seller goes really quiet?

I bought something almost a week ago, which is for collection but the sellers were quite communicative, saying they could get it to a relative's house nearer my home, and then saying it might be a friend's house instead, somewhere else.
They weren't sure but were finding out if this could be arranged.
I said thankyou and it didn't matter if they couldn't, as I could come and get it if need be though it's a fair trip.
Anyway, the next day I won the auction, it had been relisted twice already, and I was the only bidder.
The seller didn't email, so I left it a while then emailed asking them to let me know whether they wanted payment through paypal or in cash on delivery/collection, also to let me know if I needed to arrange to pick it up from their original location or not as I was happy to do this.

Not a sausage for nearly a week. I've now put payment through paypal and still not heard anything from them.
They have good feedback, were very friendly, sent decent emails and so on. I can't think what's happened.

Shouls I try ringing them up? Or what? I need the item soon as the renovation is on hold till we know where it's going/if it fits. But I don't want to hassle them.

Might they be on holiday/having trouble using the internet/what do you reckon? I don't think they'd be like this if they just didn't want to sell it to me. They seemed too nice for that.

Just goofbayed them, nothing bought since well before I was in contact with them - and no fb left either since then, or items listed.

I think they might be on hols? Don't most people have iphones and so on to check their emails though? I don't but still Smile

im having similar probs with a buyer. won my item over a week ago and ive heard nothing.
Ive invoiced them, ive sent a message as they dont live far, i offered to post item through thier letter box to save on postage....nothing.

What do you do in this case? I was going to leave it till weekend and if nothing, im not sure what to do???

JaneBirkin · 08/12/2011 20:37

Oh poor you. If it's a non paying bidder, you report it as unpaid to ebay who then give the buyer a kick up the arse, sorry, chance to sort it out, and this take another 7 days, then you should get your final value fees reimbursed and you can relist the item. Add the buyer to your list of blocked bidders and if they leave you bad feedback, ebay will remove it as they've not paid.

If it's already been a week then do it now. Doesn't sound like they want to pay you Sad

they have 100% positive feedback and have only just joined ebay by the looks of things, so i dont want to ruin their 100%....feel awful Sad

Thanks for advice and sympathy, im brand new to it myself, so im learning Smile

why don't you pull their details and phone them? At least then you will know either way

Oflip - I would open a non paying bidder case if I were you - at least you will then get your fees back

fergoose · 08/12/2011 21:20

Sorry - skim reading - yes I agree with Janebirkin - if they haven't paid by now they probably won't

I've had problems lately with messages on Ebay, not sure if people are getting them and if I'm getting theres. Yes, I'd try ringing... or how about email them directly to make sure they have got your emails.

JaneBirkin · 09/12/2011 16:22

Good idea, thanks - I've emailed now and see if they get that.

They should have had a message to say I've paid though as that comes from paypal, not ebay.
I think they might have gone on holiday. They did just bid on a load of skiing stuff before! Smile
