Questions on a missing item

I've had my first item not delivered. I've seen advice on here to conact the sorting office local to the buyer, but how do you find out the details of this? She's in a major city so I'm guessing there may be more than one.

Also, when do I offer a refund? I know RM say 15 working days and so far its been 10. So do I refund now and ask for her honesty if it arrives or do I ask her to wait until RM admit it could be lost i.e. 15days?

I've asked her to check neighbours and sorting office, but from her reply I'm not sure if she has.

Thanks

AArgh another question - knew I'd missed one! If I offer to send her another do we need to do anything in ebay / paypal to acknowledge this?

if you send a 2nd item make sure you send it recorded!

Up to you if you wait 15 working days, if your buyer is happy to wait that time then i would wait if I were you - but she could always open a dispute to get a refund from you now.

Refund the first payment through paypal, then send another via recorded :)

why would you need to refund if you are sending a replacement?

I know, I know, I should have sent it recorded!

A lot of my items are just £1 or £2 so it's not worth it, but she bought two of my higher priced items, so I'm really annoyed with myself.

She looks legit so I do believe its gone missing, but I thought I'd just give the sorting office a ring to make sure before I reply to her.
