Buyer wants postage refunded

I recently sold an item on ebay which the buyer has said is not as I described.

I listed it as a certain colour and the buyer is disputing this. I have said she is welcome to send it back to me but I will not refund the postage charge.

Do you think this is acceptable?

If the item is as described the buyer should pay return postage. You will need to refund all of their original payment though including the p&p.

Thanks for your reply fergoose

Do you know if there an ebay policy on this? I have looked but can't find anything.

I think that the item is as described. She thinks it is green and I think it is turquoise.

I've also stated no returns on the listing.

turquoise can be be misinterpreted. i think its like this

<a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=turquoise&um=1&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&sa=N&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1525&bih=741&tbm=isch&tbnid=xwsCEWltLmqDHM:&imgrefurl=hypebeast.com/2009/12/turquoise-pantone-color-2010/&docid=SJhD8Bkwt9CkiM&imgurl=cdn.hypebeast.com/image/2009/12/turquoise-pantone-2010-color-1.jpg&w=620&h=413&ei=k1fTTpLcE4zU4QT5ndw6&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=183&vpy=414&dur=1&hovh=183&hovw=275&tx=213&ty=216&sig=104787374578960282526&page=1&tbnh=155&tbnw=201&start=0&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:14,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">turquoise

BillBrysonsRucksack · 28/11/2011 09:44

Sorry, have just found some info saying that I should pay the original postage if I accept a return.

I'm still going to dispute this because I think the item does match the listing.

BillBrysonsRucksack · 28/11/2011 09:57

piratecat that's exactly the colour!

listing here

ChristinedePizanne · 28/11/2011 10:00

That is turquoise!

FlouncyMcFlouncer · 28/11/2011 10:00

That's turquoise. Your buyer's a muppet!

Catslikehats · 28/11/2011 10:02

I suppose at a push that could be blue but it is certainly not green. Provided the photo is an acurate interpretation of the RL colour I wouldn't refund at all, nevermind the issue of the P&P.

piratecat · 28/11/2011 10:03

have to say in the ebay pic the photo is making it look more of a turquoise blue than my link.

your pic looks more like this <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=turquoise+blue&um=1&hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&sa=N&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&biw=1525&bih=741&tbm=isch&tbnid=kGPsRelWCUOdMM:&imgrefurl=www.balloons.co.uk/shop/gift-wrap-and-gift-tags-2207/plain-gift-wrap-sheets-2211/turquoise-blue-wrapping-paper-sheet-70cm-x-50cm-9656.html&docid=ntnCXEe47vf0yM&imgurl=www.balloons.co.uk/shop/images/turquoise%252520pearl%252520web.jpg&w=800&h=533&ei=QlzTTv-6NsTT4QSO08EX&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=851&vpy=211&dur=463&hovh=150&hovw=225&tx=88&ty=64&sig=104787374578960282526&page=1&tbnh=150&tbnw=225&start=0&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">turquoiuse blue

fergoose · 28/11/2011 10:44

if the buyer opens an eBay dispute they will have to pay to return but will be entitled to all of their original payment back if they win the dispute.

If I were you I would ask them to send it back, and just relist it either with a buy it now or end the listing of an evening then you may get a better price.

I agree it looks turquoise to me, but their monitor may be old or set up incorrectly.

dizzyday07 · 28/11/2011 11:59

I bought a pair of trousers for DD which were listed as bronze - and the picture did make them look like that to me. When they arrived they were khaki green! Sometimes colour perception is down to the indiidual. (Thought your coat looks turquoise to me!

BillBrysonsRucksack · 28/11/2011 13:57

Thanks for all your replies. It is turquoise isn't it. Grin

When I told her I wouldn't pay postage all she messaged back was 'I'm disappointed.' So I guess I'll wait and see what happens next!

newmum953 · 05/12/2011 21:36

The listing is accurate with a clear picture. There is no reason for refund. Unless stated there is a chance of a refund, as a buyer on ebay, I usually assume refunds aren't a possibility.
