Have I done something wrong?

I sold a BNWT duffle coat last week, lovely coat, Florence and Fred. Never worn because my sone prefers his 'mountain climbing' one from Lands End.
I listed it only as being Florence and Fred.
Buyer emails furious because I didn't say it was from Tesco and she would never have watched the coat if she had known
Surely everybody knows that Florence and Fred is a Tesco brand. I don't even shop there and I know that?
Did I do something wrong?
And what should I do now?
I have asked buyer what she expects me to (or would like me to do) now, but no reply as yet.

Seeing as you described it as Florence and Fred, and i assume it says F&F on the label, i'd think she cant say it was not as described. It takes a few seconds to google something if you've not heard of the brand so its her bad luck.
However, ebay doesnt work that way and will often find in favour of the buyer even if its not the right decision.
If she liked the coat enough to buy it despite it being a brand unknown to her then she should still like it even if its from tesco. But if it means she is going to leave bad feedback it might be worth accepting it back and giving a refund. But only the cost of the coat, not postage too. And make sure she sends it recorded so you get the tracking number.

I don't think you have done anything wrong, surely it's the same as saying Per Una rather than m&s?

Bossybritches22 · 11/11/2011 07:05

Ha she is some brand-obsessed buyer who likes the snob value of "names" & thought she was getting a designer label!!

Nothing wrong with F&F stuff, up to her to do the research, ignore it!

MamaPizza · 11/11/2011 07:59

She sounds like a proper snob. You have definitely not done anything wrong.

Thanks all.
I really did not think I was being misleading - everyone knows F&F is Tesco, and if it had been Tesco on the label, I would have listed it so.
I will wait and see if she gets back to me.
vajazzler thanks for your advice, I will see if she wants to return it. I am starting to get really pissed of with using ebay, as a buyer and a seller. It just seems like an almighty hassle sometimes. First problem I have had selling, but lately a lot of buying stuff and it being crap. Bah! Rant over, sorry!

Tummy, i agree, the fees are extortionate and buyers expect the earth a lot of the time, gone are the days when it was for selling your uneanted junk stuff for a bit of extra cash, one persons trash, another persons treasure and all that!

I sold a pram a couple of months ago, for £170 it cost me 17.00 in final value fee and about £5 in listing fees, whats the bloody point, should have sold it in the local paper Angry god im ranty this morning!

Tryharder · 11/11/2011 13:21

She has no case, IMO. However, if she wants to return it at her own cost and be refunded the price of the coat only, then I would agree out of goodwill only. She may well leave a negative but what on earth could she say?? I don't hold negatives against sellers if it is apparent that the buyer is a complete pratt and the seller leaves a polite and measured response.

How could she not have known F&F is a Tesco brand??? It does sound a bit posh though, I suppose think: Phister & Phillina, Arthur et Felicie etc etc Grin
What an idiot, though.
