Second Chance Offer....do I pay same or lower?

Have received a second chance offer on a PS3. I stated that my highest bid was £100 but lost out at the last second to someone coming in with £102.

Apparantly, the buyer is a no show so I have been offered it.

Do I have to pay the amount I bid up to or can I make him a lower offer?

Am a bit wary of buying stuff like this online as it is meant to be a christmas present for my DS and I am worried about it turning out to be faulty as I know nothing about these consoles. Seller claims its in good working order, so if it conks out after a week, do I have any rights regarding a refund?

Sorry for waffling but any advice would be great.
Thanks

it would be your highest bid, you could ask them to accept a lower offer, is worth a try.

did you get the offer straight away or was it some time after the auction finished - could they have been using a shill bidder?

You can return for a refund if faulty, you have 45 days to make a claim. If you pay by paypal funded by credit card you are able to do a chargeback in some cases too.

Can I ask why you are wary now? What would you have done had you won it outright?

I would have been crapping myself actually.
i am wary because it's an electrical item that could go wrong at any moment, and it would have cost me a shed load of money.
I just feel very nervous buying things like that over the internet. I mean, there's no gaurantee that they won't die on me as soon as I get them home.
