If a seller doesn't state that item can not be collected is it safe to assume it can be? I want to bid on something in my hometown and don't want to pay £5 post. It is a child's toy.
I have emailed the seller but not received a reply and bidding ends in a couple of houes.

No - ask first and don't presume

Many sellers do not want, or are not comfortable with, people collecting items so if it is not offered you must presume it is postage only.

what fergoosesaid it's always polite to ask. Some people just don't have the time to wait for a collector. I must admit to being very lucky and no-one has refused yet. I make sure I am prompt and that I have a contact number in case I get lost or running late.
