Buyer hasn't received item

I've just heard from my buyer that she hasn't received the item and am not sure how to handle it from here. This is probably a very basic question, but despite completing over 600 transactions as a seller, I have never had an item go missing so would appreciate any advice.

I've looked at the Royal Mail site so understand I need to put in a claim from them to cover item costs plus postage (I have proof of postage so no problem there). It's about £30 total so within the compensation limits.

  • do I have to refund now or wait until I get refund from RM?
  • do I have to do anything via eBay to cancel the transaction?
  • can I get my selling fees refunded from eBay?
  • can she leave negative/neutral feedback - no reason to think this would happen but I'm being protective of my 100% feedback record
  • anything else I need to be aware of?

refund now then claim for the item

yes they can leave a neg if they want. after refunding you can cancel and get fees back if buyer agrees.
