Does no feedback mean it hasn't been received?

I just started selling some things on ebay a couple of weeks ago.
I got all the items out straight away with Royal mail mostly second class. I spend a bit more on postage than I had asked for but I guess that is a learning curb.
I have all the receipts from all the packages.
But I have only had feedback from about 3 out of 10. All the feedback has been positive so far on buying and these 3 items but I am wondering if the others havent left feedback if they have received the items or have just forgotton/can't be bothered.
I left positive feedback for all of them.
My money is being held in paypal for 21 days I think as it's my first time selling. I'm worried now that it won't be released if items havent been received?

don't worry, many people never bother leaving any feedback. Did you leave feedback for them, you could do it now to spur people on, but don't email asking for feedback as you could annoy people.

Ok, I have to remember too that most people might be at work/not checking emails everyday like a SAHM who is 37 weeks pregnant and can't be arsed to do much else!!

I usually send a reminder about 7 days after they've been dispatched, to say if there is anything wrong contact me before leaving feedback, if item has been received please leave feedback as confirmation of receipt, thank you very much etc. Will chase them again in 7 days etc.

I don't tend to leave feedback until they've confirmed receipt for me. I know some people don't agree with this, though it works for me.

I'm afraid I disagree and never chase asking for feedback. It is voluntary, and when I get nagging emails it does make me feel harassed. I have seen neg feedbacks left for sellers which say item ok, badgering for feedback is not, it does really annoy some people. Some people never bother to leave it as they don't have the time or the inclination. I always leave it once a buyer pays as it is done and dusted then, and it lets them know item is posted to.

Ok, well I havent sent out any reminders or emails to do so, I was just worried in case people hadn't received the items, but I guess they might have emailed me too if they hadn't received it or were unhappy with it?

Yes, I am sure you would have been chased up by them if the items hadn't arrived. :)

I must admit it's been a while since I've actively 'chased' someone for feedback.

As the things I sell are usually out of print books they have an option of recorded delivery, for me this acts as confirmation so feedback left. Or if they opt for ordinary post then I usually wait for them to confirm it's arrived and send them an e-mail to see if it has.

It's not neccessarily that I want the feedback before leaving mine, it's more that I want to know they've got the item safely. My first e-mail is more confirmation that it's been sent, what to do if problem and if they can confirm receipt it would be appreciated.

I know I'm waiting to give feedback as they tried to deliver while I was out so I have to wait until Saturday until I can get it during the post office hours... So I am a few days "late" already leaving feedback...

I tend to send an email confirming that I have sent an item, then asking if they will kindly leave feedback to acknowledge receipt of it. I have to say, not many people do.

do not chase for feedback ever it encourages negativity it is annoying when you start as you need to build uop DSr but you no DSR is better than low DSR because if annoyed people can leave positive feedback and low DSR as you need an average of 4.7 so you only need a couple of 1-2 for seller communication and its bad, I would say omn average about 50% leave feedback believe me you will hear soon enough if something does not arrive!

i only leave payment feedback immediately if sold for £1-5 with high value items no feedback unitl receipent left feedback, I generally do leave feedback when i receive but if asked to i would be very annoyed

all feedback now is either "thanks for prompt payment" or " item as descibed thanks good ebayer"

if someone has answered lots of questions and kept me upto date I will add good communication or if a problem solved well will commend buyer for that

Like a few of the others have said, I never contact buyers to ask for feedback as it's volutary and you could inadvertantly open a can of worms for yourself.
I've not received feedback for some items I've sold, it is a bit annoying but as they didn't informed me they hadn't received it, I assumed they had and just left it at that.
