Do free listings weekends lead to lower bids?

I was going to put a bunch of items on this weekend and then saw it was a free listings weekend. Now I should be happy, but actually I am a bit wary. The last time I listed items on a free listing weekend, I found they went for less than I had expected.

Anyone else found there is just too much listed after a free listings weekend to make a decent return on their items, or was I just unlucky?

you could be right.
a lot of business sellers (who don't qualify for free listings) avoid listing to coincide with these free days as the site is clogged up.
I actually think if you are selling something that you know will sell iyswim it is best to list at a normal time and so have less competition. If it is something you simply don't know will sell or not then maybe the free listings are the safest bet.

Mmm that's what i was thinking six - thanks for the advice. Might list my more hit and miss items this weekend and then do the rest either during the week or next w/e...

I wonder what the hell happens, I listed two identical items in the last free listings...expecting about £5.00. One got 6 bids and went for £10.00, the other didn't sell , I actually started to wonder if it was on there at all!

if you have identical things it's best not (imo) to list them at the same time (you are competing against yourself) - unless of course they are the kind of things people would want a pair of, in which case you can mention on each listing that you have also listed another.

People tend to note one item and watch it and then proceed to bid - it doesn't occur to them to look and see if another has been listed which they can possibly get at a lower price (hense your 2nd item going un-noticed)

Another idea is to list one at 7 days and the other at 10 days, then the losing bidders get directed to "other similar items" which will probably point to yours.
