Am I expecting too much from ebay?

I've bought around 30 items in the past couple of weeks, and have not been happy with a fair few of them.
One item was a sports bra described as 'new, never worn' but had a liquid mark on the inside of the cup. Contacted the seller and she said to return for refund - fair enough except she recently (after I had purchased) had a few feedbacks saying the buyers had to return also at their own cost. I know ebay/paypal won't make a seller refund this, I just find it unfair that she didn't describe the items accurately and the buyers are losing out also.
Same thing with a bundle of clothes described as 'you wouldn't know they'd been worn' and half the sequins had came off the top.
Another item was a necklace and earrings set, which consisted of clear string with cheap beads and glitter. It was too small to fit around my neck and fell apart within minutes of wearing, the hook also came off one of the earrings.
A jacket I bought showed wear where a brooch had been in it which wasn't in the description.
A bag I bought had white marks all over the bottom.

Am I being unlucky or expecting too much or what? I wouldn't sell these items myself or I would describe the fault/s they had.

I am quite new to ebay and have also bought numerous [hundreds!] items since joining a few months ago.

I have found the quality and item descriptions not to match in some circumstances, ie items described as brand new or good condition which was not strictly correct... or one item which was described as gold when it obviously wasn't.

However generally I feel I have received value for money. Have only felt the need to ask for a refund on one item [the "gold" item, and a refund was swiftly arranged by seller]

I tend to think of ebay as a giant car boot sale so I expect to find some unscrupulous sellers trying to get rid of old tat at the highest possible price. However I have also seen that there are real bargains to be discovered.

It is a bit of a gamble buying on ebay but as you can request a refund if items are not as described it is a risk worth taking imo.

But do make sure you leave negative feedback where deserved as this will help other buyers avoid dodgy sellers!
