Refunds

I won a pair of sandals for dd on the 27th April, paid straight away, given it was a bank holiday weekend with Royal wedding etc I wasn't surprised that I hadn't received them by the end of last week.
I contacted seller who said they were posted on the 28th, (although when I look at purchase history they weren't 'ticked off as sent' until the 4th may).
She said for me to wait until this Friday, which I have done and still no sandals have arrived, I only paid £1.04 for them plus £3 P&P so not big money however she said she would refund me shortly.
Got an email last night saying it had been refunded, so I went on to my Paypal to find that it has been refunded but they payment is on hold until 20th May (WTF)
So ladies, do I open a INR and go through ebay or just wait until the 20th?

is it a refund of the original payment, or has the seller actually sent you a payment?

If they sent you a payment, then you will need to refund that via paypal and ask them to refund the original payment properly. Or you could just start an INR if seller is uncooperative.

It says refund from, XXXXX pending 20th May
I hovered the mouse over 'whats this' and it says
'Your refund will be pending for 5-7 working days until it clears'
I just don't understand why, I only realised when I went to buy some armbands for dd that the money wasn't in there!
She hasn't been uncooperative so far, but this is ridiculous!

I've just done a refund as a seller and had the same thing.
I sold several things on eBay, transferred all the money to my bank from paypal then later had to refund one buyer.
Refund has to be transferred back from bank to paypal and then on to buyer and paypal says this takes 5-7 days. Nothing I can do to speed it up.

Ah ok, thanks FollowMe, it makes sense now! What a total mess around! So I'm guessing that if the funds were still in PP it would be an instant payment but as its coming from a bank account you have to wait for it! Argh!! :o

I had the same problem when I refunded someone a few weeks ago - it does seem a bit strange that you can make instant payments with a bank account linked to PayPal but not instant refunds!
