Hijacked account?

Just logged on to my ebay account to see three new items on my watch list that I definately didn't put there. They are all various types of mountaineering equipment which are of no interest to me or anyone that I know.

No bids have been placed, but the person has been messaging sellers asking questions about the items.

I've changed my password and my secret answer question so hopefully it should be secure. I'm a little worried about my paypal account though as the two are linked, shared a password Blush and I can't change it until I get home.

It just seems bizarre that a 'hijacker' would watch items without buying anything. But if it's just some kind of mistake, surely the person would have noticed it wasn't their account when sending out the emails?

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I did once have a pair of socks turn up o my 'for sale' list Shock. They had been listed form the USA.

I contacted Ebay and informed them that I had not listed this item. They took it seriously, although did not immediately spring to the belief that this was a deliberate attempt to use my account, more of a genuine mistake type response.

They removed the item and contacted the person who had listed it.

Btw, their 'live chat' option is very good - doesn't cost you (unlike the telephone calls).

I would contact them and let them know that this has happened. Hope this helps?

Thanks. Probably nothing malicious going on, but it just seems weird that someone would be firing off emails to sellers without realising that they were logged in under a different name?

I emailed the seller to let him know what had happened- felt quite bad for him as he seemed excited at the prospect of shifting a job lot of "100% alloy carabiners" - whatever the hell they may be?!
