Please take a look at this bidding history, does it look as dodgy as I think?

I'm not very good with Ebay so please tell me if I have this all wrong.
There are 3 people bidding on this tent, one of the bidders is a new account with no history. It's it wrong of me to wonder if the new account holder is the seller who is using a second account to up the bids

And, Is there a way I can ask Ebay to check the IP address etc?

The bids do seem very close together.

Bohica · 25/04/2011 22:17

Wahh I'm getting flamed on the Ebay chat forum! Bloody hell I'm only wanting to check it isn't the case. I haven't named & shamed anyone.

And they all say we're a nest of nasty vipers Confused

looks ok to me, it's just where they've bid and been automatically outbid so upped it a bit

caughtinanet · 25/04/2011 22:18

I wouldn't be suspicious at all, everyone has to be a new bidder on their first item. They've done 3 bids as each one would have been topped by a bidder before them. If you click on the user name you'll see they've bid on another tent as well.

It just looks like someone who wants to buy a tent for the summer hols.

The term is shill bidding and it is against ebay rules but I don't think this is what's happening here.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 25/04/2011 22:22

I think I'd be worried that they're not posting a photo of the actual tent.

Can you link to the ebay chat forum Bohi - I didn't know one exists.

Looks like the other person has bid on 2 different items, so I don't think they are dodgy.

Bohica · 25/04/2011 22:38

Thank you, I didn't know I could click on a profile from the bidding history It only caught my attention as a collegue admitted to a few people the other day that they have to accounts so they can bid on their own items & I was [shocked].

caught thank you, shill bidding sounds much better than upping bids Smile

chaos I have emailed the seller to ask for pics before I make a bid, I will link the forum as long as you promise not to join in on my flaming!

Nope - wouldn't do that to a fellow camper!

I think it only appears to be your personal account as you're still logged in. I don't think it shows as you for anyone else (also clueless but it comes up as me for me)!

I agree with this. Rather than put in their top limit straight away, they have kept putting in smaller bids. Although they don't have any feedback yet they are bidding on items from other sellers so not likely to be a shill bidder.
