Do I need to offer to pay postage again? (I didn't receive item and it's been returned to seller)

Basically I ordered DS a toy from ebay, he had been saving up in 10p increments for ages we got it at a great price, item didn't turn up. Cue autistic ds crying and having a meltdown everyday after school for nearly two weeks when I told him the postman hadn't brought it.

Seller asked me to wait in case it came back to her, apparently she gets parcels sent back to her a lot. Hmm (??????)

Messaged her today and said if you have not had parcel back I would like a refund. Get a message, ooh guess what parcel has arrived with a sticker saying undelivered (I haven't had a card, called local depot to check and asked in person when I picked up another package and nothing there waiting) do I still want it or do I want a refund.

Have explained to her DS is eagerly awaiting it.

It is a heavy toy (not huge in size but heavy). Postage will be more than toy. Do I need to pay her postage again or not? I don't want her losing money but nor do I want to be forking out money unnecesarily. Basically I want to do the right thing but not sure whose place it is to repay for postage.

no you don't! The seller needs to resend it at her cost.

I don't know if I believe the seller to be honest - did you get it for a good price. Was a card put through your door to say you had missed a delivery. Watch if she relists it again.

I got it for a very good price. It is second hand rather than new but they are hard to get hold of and don't come up for sale very often. DS has wanted one for months. I definetely haven't had a card through the door, and it wasn't in my local depot as I checked with them twice!

She hasn't asked me for the postage again btw but I didn't want to not offer it if it was my responsibility to pay it IYSWIM.

Feel a bit guilty now, seller has messaged me thanking me for being so patient and reasonable and telling me she will repost today. Blush Smile

Well, you could always repay the postage once you receive it if you want to, once you know the stamp price
