How do you bid anonymously??

Can anyone help? It's DH's birthday soon and he has seen a watch he likes on eBay that I would like to get for him, but I don't want him to see me bidding on it (he is watching it, but he is a tightwad so I know he won't buy it for himself).

Can I bid so that my identity won't be shown to other bidders? I obviously don't mind the seller knowing who I am.

your ebay name would just show ar e*j (101)

Yes, he would definitely work it out if that's the case. Oh poo. Well now I know what he wants I might see if I can find something similar elsewhere as I really want it to be a surprise.

Done it now - and won the watch, yay! I reckon he won't check who was bidding as it isn't really relevant, is it? I thought it showed the name of the current high bidder but it doesn't any more, you have to click to see the (obscured) bidder names.

Hahahaha he was going to bid but I told him not to until I go back to work (due back from mat leave soon) so he was gutted!
