Is it paid or not? Sent item and he says its not received

Hi, I am very new to ebay, still finding my way.
I sold an item on ebay (on 17th) and it Still shows up as 'To be paid' in my ebay, but when I log into my Paypal it shows that the buyer has paid and the money is in my paypal account.

On this basis, I posted the item and got proof of postage on 21st March.
Today, got an email message from the buyer asking where it was as he had not received it. I have written to him via the listing to say I will make enquiries and get back to him.

Firstly, why does my ebay still mark it as unpaid? I thought they were linked up with Paypal.

Secondly, what is my next step that I need to take?

complicated one.
check your paypal account. does it say complete or pending? check the address against the address given in ebay. Check you paypal email addy is correct. Track your item online - royal mail website and see if it has been signed for yet.

You have to send the item to the PayPal address not the eBay one are they the same?

The item may well be lost if so you will have to refund and claim from RM for the loss.

Hi, Thank you both for the advice. I will check the addresses in both now.

I only did proof of postage - the item only sold for £4 anyway.
I didnt think it could therefore be tracked. Does proof of posting require a signature then?

Well, I've just had a look in Paypal and all his details are there. I did send it to the correct address. The only thing - under 'Postage instructions: Description' is gives another name. I did not put this name on the address label I put the name of the person with the Paypal account. This address is marked as verified.

I had a quick rummage and discovered that I could have printed off the address labels in Paypal to post on to the buyer. I did a hand written and also put one inside with the item. I dont think either of them had my details on ie. my return address. So I hope it hasnt gone astray.

I am still puzzled why in Ebay it shows as unpaid?

I think I will wait a few days to see if it turns up. Will look for contact tel. no. for him now inside Ebay.
