I sold a dress for £210 and sent it 1st class standard post. The buyer has said it hasn't arrived yet, am not sure if they are telling the truth, will I have to refund them all the money?

gosh thats an awful lot of money not to have posted special delivery.

Have you looked at their feedback, could be they're trying it on, thing is, you have no way of knowing.

I think you'd probably have to refund all but not 100% sure.

Sorry, but in my experience as a semi-pro ebayer, you will have to refund them. Paypal will award it back to them.

I cant believe you sent an item worth £210 without added insurance.

Im afraid it will be a refund to the buyer, then you can claim £40 or so through Royal Mail for the loss of a parcel.

they've got great feedback and are a powerseller

I'm afraid if they say they haven't received it and you didn't send it special delivery (for the sake of £6 I wouldn't have risked a £210 sale) then you may be headed down the refund route.

stealthcat · 21/03/2011 20:32

It doesnt matter whether you believe them or not, you didnt send it using a trackable method, so they will get a refund.

bugger, get them to check at sorting office and ask them to wait a little longer?

dp gets people trying it on all the time, though they're usually from abroad

jinglebelly · 21/03/2011 20:34

do people lie about it often or does stuff genuinly go missing a lot?

6 of one, halfdozen of the other. As you can imagine, very tempting if you get a parcel drop through your door, and £210 is just one click away...

nailak · 21/03/2011 20:40

check at their nearest sortin office, as sometimes the postman doesnt leave cards

Why on earth did you send something that valuable in the post!

Did you at least get a certificate of postage?
