Posting on behalf of DH!

He sold a leather jacket back in Feb, for an impressive 99p. Annoyingly, due to ebay's restrictions on postage in some categories, the most postage he could charge was £4 and it was heavy so cost £4.50 to post.

Buyer sent a message little while later saying it hadn't arrived. DH suggested he try his local sorting office to see if it was there and also asked him to confirm his address so could check he'd addressed it correctly. Buyer hasn't replied.

Today the jacket was returned as the buyer hasn't been to the sorting office to collect it. Meh.

What to do? Plan at the moment is to tell the buyer he can pay some more postage and he'll re-post, or he'll refund the 99p. Should he be refunding the whole amount? A fiver is a big deal to us!

Advice appreciated :)

When buyer bothers to contact you then ask him to open a case, then refund him the 99p.

No way would I refund postage for a buyer who is so lazy they couldn't even be bothered to go to the PO and pick up a bargain leather jacket, and ebay don't require you to either.

don't let them open a case as this will be a mark against your performance. An opened case where you can't prove delivery would result with the buyer receiving a full refund.
You can offer to re-post if they pay for the postage again. Or, you could ask them if they want to cancel the sale and then you can re-list (with a higher start price!)

You would have to refund the full amount, if they take it to dispute they would get it all back as you cannot prove delivery.

So, email them and advise the jacket has been returned as it was not collected and ask if they would like a refund or you can repost if they would pay the postage again.
