Buyer from Israel - postage?

I've just sold an item and the buyer is in Israel. It's a bottle of Jo Malone perfume that went for just over £40 and I'm only really willing to send it 'international signed for'.

The buyer didn't ask for a postage quote before bidding and it's a hefty £12! Someone had enquired about postage to Germany and her query appeared on the listing along with my response (Germany would have been £8.80) so I suppose the buyer could reasonably assume I would send overseas, but I've just got the wobbles because I've never sent to Israel.

I've just emailed her to say the postage would be £12 and asking her to confirm this is okay before sending an invoice, but I guess what I'm wondering is if she starts to complain about the postage cost can I sell to the second highest bidder? My listing doesn't specifically say I will sell to overseas bidders, but is it assumed that sellers will unless it says they won't?!

I'm probably worrying for nothing - she has plenty of positive feedback. It's just that Israel is an unknown quantity for me.

Anyone got any comments or suggestions please?

I have never had any problems with Israel, you should be ok

Thanks Lolo. She's just paid, including the postage so no problems hopefully!

Thanks again Lolo - that's reassuring!

OP i only ever send items overseas via signed for service. i've now included that in my listings as i don't "ban" int'l bidders but have had people querying my P&P quotes before.

worth inc the line in future listings.

Are you sure you can send perfume abroad? Specifically to Israel?
