Return of faulty item - who pays for p&p

I bought a pair of shoes for my dd from ebay, but I have returned them the day they were received ( day 3 out of 7 for Distance Selling purposes) as they were faulty.
The seller refunded promptly but did not refund the original p&p charges. When I emailed them to point out that they were legally obligated to refund this, they did but were very sarky in their email to me.
They also refused to refund my cost of returning the shoes to them.
Should I push for this, or just leave them negative./neutral, and forget about the best part of a fiver ( which I can ill afford as I am not working atm)
Thanks

Unfortunately a good seller would refund return shipping but they are not obligated to.

I'd leave a neutral.

They should have refunded you the original post and packing, it is not fair they sent you a faulty item. The return postage is discretional? sp but I would and have refunded it when it is my fault.

They should. Good suppliers offer a post paid sticker even for returns when it's just that you don't want them.
