Bought a gift for DS on ebay, apparently new and sealed. Seller failed to mention on the listing that one end of box was all bashed in and had been taped up with sellotape. I contacted seller straight away and asked for a partial refund, no answer. after a week I opened a case on paypal, no response. after 2 more weeks of waiting for a reply to the dispute, I escalated to a claim. Paypal have today decided in my favour and offered me a full refund if I return it in its original unopened state. Sure, yes, I can do that the week AFTER bloody christmas! I never wanted a full refund, I just objected to paying full whack for something in a badly damaged box!
apparently when escalating to a claim I have cancelled the request for a partial refund?
but no-one told me that if I escalated to a claim I could only get a full refund.
Am SERIOUSLY annoyed about this!

PayPal cannot agree to a partial refund, they only go with full refunds, it is down to the seller to offer a partial, if not you return in the condition it is in now at a cost to yourself trackable.

Why be annoyed? PayPal do not do partial refunds, only full refunds.

It has always been like that read the User Agreement. YOu was not happy you should not have given as a gift.

I just expect that when you have asked for a partial refund, and you try to escalate to a claim, it should be made clear at that point that you will only be able to get a full refund.
Yes I should have read the user agreement, but I suspect I am not in a minority not having done so.
No, I shouldnt have given it as a gift, I should have bought another, but it was quite an expensive gift, and I didnt have the cash to get another, and also not knowing if I would be able to get a refund or not, and possibly be left with the one with the damaged box which I would have to sell at a loss since I list things accurately unlike the seller.
I'm not in a position to afford 2, or make a loss like that.

Thanks for the help.
