Partial refund - how much is reasonable?

Bought a leather bag about a week ago, it arrived today. Was listed as 'New' and in a lot of ways it appears to be, card inner, plastic film still on padlock but it is marked, 3 dark marks on the underside and a larger one on the handle. Its a very light colour so the dark marks show up.

Cost including postage was £40, RRP is £55. I was happy to pay this for somethign which was new and in stores still but it is damaged and I wouldn't have bid as high had I known.

Have emailed the seller to explain - how much of a partial refund would be reasonable to expect?

It depends how bad the marks are. Are you sure you still want to keep it?
If so, I would want half of the cost back.

what are the marks? i mean, if it is scratch marks or where it has been bashed about then it's going to end up with a lot of those anyway so I would be less worried

if it's very noticeable marks that aren't scratches and so will ALWAYS be noticeable then tbh for only £15 less than RRP (which is usually high anway) I would probably return it

The marks are dirty smudges rather than scratches, not huge, but the bag is cream so noticeable. I have been loathed to try and get them off before hearing from the seller.

hmmm tough one

can you live with it if you can't get the marks out?

i think i would want at least £10 back, maybe £15

Yes, I could but would be a lot happier with the transaction if it was a bit less costly!
