Wedding dress on ebay, is it worth it?

Hi, i'm trying to raise cash for xmas etc and had a brainwave last week and though i could sell my wedding dress.

It cost £1000 and is stunning (IMO!) BUT there are chocolate and red wine stains down it and a ciggy burn!

The burn is on the outer beaded mesh part so could be removed or repaired. The stains may come out with drycleaning.

Now should i dryclean this and put it on, noting i will be out of pocket if it doesn't sell, or presume that no one would want to buy this?

It seems such a shame to keep it hidden in attic!

What would you do, or have you succesfully sold something similar?

I bought my wedding dress from ebay - but it was in perfect condition and it was more agreed that I'd go around and see it and if it wasn't right, the girl would put it on again.

You could try gumtree - which might be better?

And again, I think it def depends if the stains come out.... and also - is it right time of year to sell a wedding dress? might have more luck in spring time... but that doesn't help your raising cash for Xmas plan!

I sold my £1300 dress on ebay for £21! And it was silk and in perfect condition. I wasn't bothered as it had no sentimental value and £21 was better than nothing!

I was wondering about it being the wrong time of year. I suppose if it is only going to go for a few pounds then wont matter about it going before xmas!

I have no idea how much it would cost to dryclean though!

Bout £25 to get it dry cleaned maybe more.

They can make a few peanuts if it is a large size or a tiny size!

Never thought about the size! Its says 14 but really a 12. Another thing is that i had it takeen at the bust (is strapless) so not sure if this would affect price.

Thanks for comments. I think i wil get it cleaned, i have a huge washing machine and my mum suggested washing it in there on handwash but i can't bring myself to do it!
