Item sold UK postage only, buyer in Oz. What do I do?

I'm only an ebay novice. I've sold a pair of trousers, well they went for 99p. My ad stated UK postage only with appropriate costs. I came to print a postage label and it turns out the buyer is in Oz. They haven't contacted me and have only paid for UK postage, if I dispatch I will be out of pocket. I have sent them 2 messages asking for the extra postage and heard nothing from them. This morning having tried to find an ebay answer I have sent another message asking if they want to cancel the sale. I have not yet left feedback. Sorry for the long post WWYD?

you could either work out the correct postage and send them an invoice for this amount after refunding their original payment, 0r send a request-to-cancel transaction.

For future listings, if you don't wish to sell outside the UK you should set your preferences to block buyers from countries you don't post to.

sixlostmonkeys thanks for that, I had a snotty reply from the buyer accusing me of being rude and impatient, I didn't intend to be i just don't know all the ins and outs of ebay yet, perhaps if she'd contacted me to ask how much to post to oz it might have helped. Any way i've refunded the original payment and re-invoiced for international postage.

huh! How about her being rude for not even contacting you and paying the UK price, takes all sorts eh?

She might have calculated that, with little eBay feedback to your name, you could be pushed about, or might swallow the overseas postage for her! Nice.

Make sure you get a Proof of Posting. If this person is berating you at this stage, she might be difficult later!

Did you send it before getting the money?

I had a similar experience once in spite of my listing clearly stating that I would only post within the UK and blocking overseas bidders. Somehow a bidder based in France won and I contacted her a couple of times to ask if she had a UK address she would like me to send it to...no reply. After a week I sent the invoice with £25 put on for packaging and postage. She then replied and said it was too high - I directed her to the messages and she admitted she'd not read them and apologised.

DP no, i was paid overnight by paypal. SE13 I too clearly stated UK postage only however didn't block overseas buyers, which i may do in future I wasn't going to as I have bought from overseas and never had a problem before perhaps its time to get wise. :)
