Non payment, no contact, nothing!

I sold a sewing machine last week to a person that has 100% positive feedback on 232 transactions and having had a look, they have collected in person and paid cash on collection many times, including within the last week.

I've messaged them several times now asking them to contact me, arrange payment etc, but nothing.

I did a 3 day auction starting at £10, sold it to them (the only bid) for that price on 20/10/10
I'm far from a seasoned seller btw, but everything was set out well, though I didn't say to contact me with x number of days etc, but I would have thought a week was more than enough time to at least contact me.

I wondered if this is an acceptable message to send to them? I could give them a bit longer, but I need the money ~ and the space! and of course, ebay want their money too!

Hello again,
Is there a problem for you with payment and collection of the sewing machine?
If you do not contact me by tomorrow (Weds 27th), I will have to report you for non payment. I would prefer not to do this of course, as it seems a shame to spoil your 100% positive reputation. I would much rather you contact me and work this out.
Thanks.

Rather than send that, you can just send them an invoice which is an ebay templated email that asks for payment. I wouldn't bother with all the waffling about their feedback TBH.

If you were to send something I'd send it more like this:

Hello,
I haven't received the payment yet for the sewing machine? I was just wondering if there was a problem?
Thanks.

If they don't respond to that you can open up a case with ebay where they contact the buyer for you (I think?).

Much better to get it sorted through the proper channels

HTH

ensuitesheds' idea is good.
you can't mention leaving bad feedback in messages like this. Also, you can't leave neg feedback for a byer anyway.

SoloBlackWidowSpidersWebSite · 26/10/2010 21:30

Thanks for your responses.

I did invoice them on the day the auction ended.

I'll send your message and see what happens. Forgot about the inability to leave negative feedback for buyers. Stupid idea that one!

did you get a reply yet?

perhaps they were on holiday?

maxybrown · 28/10/2010 16:21

Can't leave neg but ebay can stick a non payment thing against their account. When you sell things you can decide who to block - for example you can block bidders with 3 unpaid item strikes in the last month....blah blah.

No, not yet. I think I'll do a canel transaction. Will that have an adverse effect on my account?

Affect and cancel. Hmm

Ok, so I opened a case and the buyer contacted me (had had a bereavement) no problem. Arranged that she'd collect yesterday, but she called to ask if I could do Saturday instead as she'd got caught up in traffic and I agreed.

What I need to know is this; do I close the case now that she's contacted me or do I wait until she's collected and paid? I don't want her to get a non payer thing added to her account if she's going to pick up tomorrow and ebay said they have 4 days to respond...how do ebay know she's responded; do the check her sent messages etc?

Talkinpeace · 05/11/2010 13:23

wait till the transaction is completed
then cancel the dispute as you cannot re open

ShinySoloSparklySolo · 05/11/2010 13:52

Ok great, thank you.

classydiva · 05/11/2010 14:48

Wait until she has turned up if she does not close the dispute issuing her with a strike, get your final value fees refunded and relist.

ShinySoloSparklySolo · 06/11/2010 11:49

Great, thank you. She phoned this morning at 11 (was meant to come between 11 and 12) saying she'd just got up and would be late. We'll see if she turns up at 2.

Sorted! all done, paid and collected.

Thank you for all your advice ladies; very much appreciated :)
