I bought an item on ebay ages ago, over 2 weeks.

I paid through paypal.

But after I bought it I had to shut my paypal account because it had my maiden name on - i couldn't change it... i wanted to add my bank account but that had my married name so they wouldn't let me. So I closed it and opened a new one in my married name so I could add my bank.

In the meantime this item 'went missing' in the post ... the woman kept saying again and again she would refund me but didn't - kept giving excuses.

I told her in every email that my original paypal account didn't excist anymore so could she please refund through postal order or with my new paypal email - and i provided it.

I sent 5 emails in total - all of them reminding her of this.

She said this morning she has refunded - to my original paypal account!! - that doesn't excist!!

I told her I cant even log in as its gone!!

She says shes refunded , but in the past when ever money has been refunded the blue '£' 'paid' sign on my 'bought items' list has dissapered showing that that item has no lonegr been paid for 0 ie its been refunded.

But its still marked as paid for so I'm not convinced she did issue a refund - even if she did I have no way to check :(

Have no idea what to do - started a 'problem' thing through ebay but it doesn't seem to actually DO anything - and can't start one through paypal as my account is gone

:(

any ideas??

Contact pay pal from your new account as its a pay pal issue, not Ebay. She probably can't refund you to a different account anyway and then its not a refund, it's another payment and she may incur charges.

You could try reinstating the old account and then you can transfer the money into your new one.

I'd phone ebay or paypal.

My friend had a problem with a missing item recently and she found a number for them and the chap on the phone was REALLY helpful and had the whole thing sorted out in 5 minutes.

Shes now told me to 'chill out; its £18 not £1800' Hmm

she said the payment is marked as 'pending' on hers so if theres no account of that addy anymore the money will be returned to hera nd she will send it to my new account.

Any ideas how long it will stay there before being returned to her?

I would expect it to take a week or so - but that's just a guess. I think you have just 45 days to raise an official dispute, so do be aware of the dates. If she keeps procrastinating, you may lose out.

She could have sent the money to your new account. Contact PayPal to see if the money is in your old account, if not re-instate your old account and open a dispute.
