a question about selling on amazon

Not ebay- but didn't know where to ask. Have just sold a book on amazon - happened so quickly I didn't really have time to read all the stuff about selling. Anyway am a bit confused about postage - is it second class, first class - just says standard. Help appreciated

Can't remember what class I used when I sold something there. I'm sure it will say somewhere. You get an allowance of £2 something for it so I may well have used first class.

You get £2.75 for postage and packing so I send using whatever method will get it to them for that amount.

Tbh, with hardbacks it often costs more than £2.75 so I send the cheapest possible.

I think if you're sending something small though you should send by whatever class will get it to them fastest, within the allowance.

Btw, there's a space on the dispatch screen where you can tell the buyer which class you've sent it by so they know when to expect it.

And congratulations on a quick sale. (I've had 30 things listed on Amazon for a month and not heard a word.) How did you find out it had sold - did you get an email? I buy loads and loads from Amazon and anything that arrives within a week from an amateur seller is very impressive - some have taken weeks. So long as you dispatch asap you can probably use 2nd class post.

you're allowed to send it on either, as long as you didn't say 1st class in the description then 2nd is fine because you have about 3-4 days allowance to get it to them?

I have just used standard 2nd class as well, and stated that on the dispatch info on Amazon after I posted it. BTW, feedback is not such a big deal on Amazon Marketplace. I have sold around 10 items to date, but only 2 buyers left any feedback.
