I sold a highchair recently. It only went for 99p. The buyer emailed and said that her father would pick it up which he did. He said that he believed his daughter had paid for it already by Paypal. I said I hadn't seen that but hadn't checked in the last few hours and anyway it was only 99p.
Buyer had not paid and still has not. Do I mark it as paid or take it up. What feedback should I leave?

It's up to you- it could go into dispute.... have they left you positive feedback. If not - i'd send polite email asking for money - saying he didn't pay on collection and you were going to put it in daughter/son's money box....

But, IME it prob isn't worth getting into a dispite over 99p - v v annoygin and v rude of these people, butI'd prob chalk it up to experience.

wow! can't believe he wouldn't pay the 99p. Crikey, if it had been my Dad he would have insisted you take a tenner! shame on them.
I'd send a message and then open a dispute - just on principle. If they argue it tell them you are doing it on principle and if they really didn't have the money they should have let you know and you would have given it to them.

Don't leave any feedback - you can only leave a positive anyway so don't leave any.

Just done a bit of searching around and found that buyer has marked as payment made. Maybe she assumes her dad paid.
Anyway I am going to leave it but not give feedback. She has not left me any anyway. Will the feedback thing drop off the list at some point?

I didn't think the buyer could mark it as payment made? You can from your end, eg if it was cash on collection. Otherwise I thought it could only happen automatically, when the buyer's paid by Paypal. Check that out first anyway, maybe it's just not showed up in your Paypal account yet (I know that's unlikely though, usually shows up immediately doesn't it?).

monarch makes a good point. have you checked you put the correct email addy on the listing?

FlyMeToDunoon · 05/08/2010 19:33

My email addy is constant and so should not be a problem. When I found the item details it said at the top 'the buyer has marked this item as payment sent on .....2010'
Ther is no payment appearing in my Paypal account.

The buyer can mark as payment sent (via cheque, postal order etc) their end. I'm not sure if the seller offered any alternative/s to paypal in this auction though.

sixlostmonkeys · 06/08/2010 15:22

the buyer marking as payment sent is not the same as the seller marking as payment received. The seller can still open a dispute for non payment.

I really would be tempted to at least send a message along the lines of " I am just going through my ebay records, could you please tell me if you intend to pay for the highchair or do you want it for free?"
