Sold my buggy on eBay - collection only. payment through paypal.

Buyer wants to pay most of the cost thru paypal, and some in cash which I'm fine with - but do I need to do anything in paypal/eBay to record this?

i don't think so - once she has collected and paid the remainder then you can mark it as payment received

Just a word to the future wise on this one - if you sell something for collection only, then cash on collection is the only safe option for both the buyer and seller.

There is nothing to stop the buyer cancelling that paypal transaction, or it may not even been the paypal account of the person who turned up to collect.

The other pitfall is that the buyer could claim Item Not Delivered, and paypal will ask you for proof of delivery - as it was a personal collection, you would lose the dispute, the money and the original item

To be fair though, a pram is not likely to be a scammers target - laptops, ipads, hifi's etc - NEVER NEVER NEVER accept paypal for these to be collected in person.

This is a recent article on the subject - www.thisismoney.co.uk/bargains-and-rip-offs/ask-an-expert/article.html?in_article_id=508187&i npageid=513&position=moretopstories

Thanks Steve - have some other items to sell that would need collecting, so will ask for cash next time!
