Sorry to start a new thread just wondered what people’s thoughts are of CAMHs we had our first assessment with them last week for my daughter and they referred her straight to the hospital which is where she has been for a week. She was eating one meal a day but since being in hospital has been eating three meals a day for first 4 days then on day 4 she had to introduce 1 snack then day 5 2 snacks day 6 1 puddings day 7 2 puddings so she is currently now trying to eat 3 meals 2 puddings and 2 snacks. Is this normal??

Very normal, I'm afraid. She should be eating 3 meals, puddings, and snacks. She'll need a huge number of calories.

She's there as an inpatient for a reason, they know what they are doing. She sounds like she's doing well to be able to eat all of that. When my dd stopped eating we managed it at home with advice (covid times) and took us longer than that but I suspect they are more resistant to family.

Thanks for the replies I kinda knew it was right in my head but just needed clarification, she’s done so well in there just hope when they discharge her she carries it on at home they are hoping to discharge her on Friday and she seems really positive so fingers crossed we car carry on this recovery process

Be prepared that she may lose weight when she comes home. DD1 was discharged on a 1500 calorie plan, lost 800g in 4 days, then when we were almost readmitted despite me having food diaries that showed she was having 1700-1900, the dietician cheerily said 'Oh yes, I expect she will need at least 2000 calories to gain....'

We are seeing the dieticians on Friday before she is hopefully discharged I’m not actually sure what she is eating calorie wise at the moment just know she is constantly eating. They said they will sort us out a plan so will see what they say on Friday
