Hope this is ok to ask on this board?

DS (17) is very underweight.
Under the dietitian now,and has been prescribed high calorie (?) milkshake supplimement drinks to take in the evening with full fat milk.

He has gained 0.4kg in a week of taking them .

I thought this was good ,as they are obviously doing something?
He is a bit disheartened that it is not more .

Is 0.4kg a week about right ?
Thank you.

When trying to gain weight in an outpatient setting, 0.5-1kg per week is recommended by the NHS so he's doing fine! Weight gain will vary week to week so try to get him to focus on the general trend - as long as it's going up, that's positive
