Dd - early signs of disordered eating. How to approach?

DD (16) has ASD/very poor mental health and has recently started restricting food.
Some days she eats little or nothing.

I have not said or done anything yet. It has only been a week and it's not every day.
I was wondering if any wise mumsnetters have advice.

I experienced disordered eating myself and am actually feeling quite triggered.

I fear that anything I might say will only make it worse and she rarely engages with the proffessionals that are involved in her care.

What should we do?

This needs nipping in the bud asap. Look for child/adolescent therapist. She needs someone to talk to.

It's just been a few days over the course of a week, what makes you jump to ED? Maybe she just isn't feeling well?

I would contact BEAT and your GP ASAP.

sooner the better

Therapist who can work with both of you to help holistically

I had an ED as a teen. Lasted three years (ish) maybe a little longer.

Took over my whole life.
I'm 30 now, recently had a tooth removed how embarrassing. I've had a lot of dental work too due to it. A heck of a lot.

Needs nipping in the bud asap. Therapist. Long chats. It's tough ....
Lots of support and no feelings of shame that will make it worse

It becomes an addiction if it's left too long ..

Fingers crossed for you. Hope everything I've said is ok just want to be honest x

Many people with ASD don't get hunger signals and have to be reminded to eat regularly. Could it be this rather than just not wanting to eat?
