Might DS2 have an eating disorder?

He's never been very good with food, very picky and very stubborn. When people said if he's hungry he'll eat it, I used to say yes, but he'd go more days than I'm prepared to let him without food.

As he's got older he's got worse and since his Dad died 4 months ago he never eats more than a few mouthfuls of any meal. He then exuses himself for the toilet, which I've always assumed was a ruse to leave the table but all of a sudden (in the middle if the night!) it occured to me that is sometimes given as a warning sign for EDs.

He's tall and skinny the way 18yo boys sometimes are but not excessively thin, I don't think. He looks healthy

Hello, something as traumatic as his father dying can be a trigger for an eating disorder. They don't have to look excessively thin to have one either. It's obviously impossible to know without a medical opinion.

I don't know how things work when your child is over 18 so I'd recommend you come onto the teen eating disorders thread where other posters can advise you better than I can.

I'm sorry you've got this worry on top of your bereavement.
