Eating alone

Evening all. Thanks to everyone who commented on my previous post. Can anyone give me advice on how to get my daughter to eat with the rest of the family? She’s spending soo much time alone anyway, but refuses to eat with us (issues with eating habits of dd2 and dh). Professionals are telling me she should be supervised when eating, and I’m hovering when she does and can see that she eats everything. As soon as I sit with her she refuses. Should I just leave her be as she’s eating almost everything on the meal plan?

This is really something to talk to the pros about. But I used to only eat alone when I was 19 and had Anorexia.

My case got better quite quickly...well it never got THAT bad though I was underweight until I was 27 it wasn't enough that I was hospitalised.

For me, the idea of eating was and still is a very personal one. I likened it to going to the toilet...just the opposite!

The idea of people "enjoying" food together is and was weird to me. It's a functional thing....

Thanks @FortunesFave. That’s interesting to know. The professionals are saying that she should be supervised but she refuses if I sit with her so I try to supervise from a distance.

Sometimes I also wants to eat food alone, but not at all time. May be your daughter feel little shy or facing some bad experience with their friends or with your family members. Better to speak with her alone about this issue. May be you find a good solution.
