Mirena

I'm a recovering anorexic of 30 years! I had the mirena coil under general anaesthetic without consent and am about to have it swapped for the copper coil. This is because of a two stone weight gain which has me swaying between anorexia and bulimia. Has anyone had experience of the fluctuation that mY occur after?

I feel for you. I refused to have the mirena because of my fear of uncontrollable weight gain, so I have the copper coil. It has had no effect on me with regards to weight gain. My periods are heavier.

I would be fairly confident in believing that the weight will be lost, as the progesterone in your body has been removed.

I hope I've been a bit helpful.

You have! Thank you so much. I can't wait to get the thing out!

Good luck.

I would have been devastated if they had inserted one without my consent. Although your situation is my nightmare, my sister never had any issues with weight gain over it.
